Spring Project Winners!
Congratulations to Karen O’Connor – she is the winner of the Spring Project Competition!
This is a very unusual shot with great composition and an interesting angle. Karen told me she went to a charity shop to find “yellow and texture” for the shoot, and ended up booking the shop assistant as the model – great idea!
The winning shots in competitions are usually the ones that really stand out, and this shot certainly does. Karen has really thought about “yellow and texture” – and, as she said in her entry: “I can almost feel the texture of his finger prints and rough knuckles through the screen!”
It’s always really difficult to make a final decision in a photo competition. It took me ages to decide on the actual winner, as there were so many great entries and the top 4 shots are exceptionally good, but I hope you’ll agree that Karen’s image deserves the top place.
Karen wins a personal photo training session, which will be the subject of a later blog, so you can all hopefully benefit from what she learns.
Runners up
The three runner up shots are all excellent images too, and each will win a copy of my Portrait or Photo Art book.
Runner up 1: Barbara Leatham
Runner up 2: Amanda Herbert
Runner up 3: Emma Finch
Thank you to everyone who entered the competition. There were some lovely pictures, which showed you had a lot of fun going out and shooting an image of a person/people with the theme of “Yellow and Texture”. It’s great that so many people said it really motivated them to go out and experiment, and gain confidence – that’s what this blog is all about!
SHORT LIST
I’ve included a short list of images below so you can see some of the other great entries received.
Now you can see why it’s so difficult to choose a winner from such great pictures, sent in from all over the world.
Remember, if your picture didn’t make it on this occasion, don’t be disheartened – enter it again in a different competition and you might just be lucky next time. As I said in an earlier blog, one picture will usually stand out, or fit the criteria of a particular competition better than others.
The important thing is taking part – and many of you said you really enjoyed being given a project to focus on.
Thanks everyone – this was a lot of fun! And you gave me a big challenge too!
